Polk Audio SurroundBar 50 - Black - 9/10 - *SOLD* to Cincycat13

I have a practically brand new Surround Bar 50 that I just have no use for anymore. It's been sitting in storage for almost a year. It has about 50 hours on it total as I was only using it to do some testing with a dual SB50, 9.2 setup on my Onkyo.

This is THE size they should have started with in the beginning instead of the 42". It's has front and rear SDA speakers and works much better than the smaller edition. No, it isn't a replacement for a full fledged 5.1 but it does a pretty good job. I would say it's about a 200-260 degree effect in reality depending on the media and mix. The SurroundBar 360 is the only one that I've owned and heard actual full on surround sound but that's just me, and YMMV.

Specifications:

Driver Complements
Mid/Woofer(9): 9 - 3-1/2" Diameter (8.89cm)
Dynamic Balance composite cone drivers, shielded
Tweeter(3): 3 - 3/4" Diameter (1.91cm)
Silk Dome Tweeters
Overall Frequency Response:
60Hz - 23kHz
Lower -3dB Limit 80Hz dB
Upper -3dB Limit 20kHz dB
Nominal Impedance: 8 ohms
Recommended Amplifier Power: 20-150 w/channel
Efficiency: 90 dB
Dimensions:
4-1/2" H x 51" W x 5-1/10" D
(11.43cm H x 129.54cm W x 12.95cm D)
Mounting Options:
Cradles, high and low, and wall mount bracket
Product Weight: 15.00 lbs. (6.80kgs)
Shipping unit: 21.0 lbs.

Reviews: SurroundBar50

SDA Whitepaper: SurroundBar50

Includes: Original everything. This includes the cradles, cable, box, etc etc.

Nobody just bought a flat screen for Xmas? I'm snapping pics of the actual bar now but the rest of the stuff is in the attic.

    I don't know

I finally bought a LG 47" HDTV a few months ago which is great.

How the hell would I hook this "thing" up to my TV? I am sure it sounds far better than the system in the TV thats for sure.

I have a CA integrated amp sitting around doing nothing if that would help.

I don't think I want it hooked up to my 2 channel system.

    There is a whole lot I don't know :rolleyes::redface::mad::redface::tongue:

    Thanks Mark

I have a Technics SADX-930 AVR just collecting dust. In fact, I think I also have the original box/manual/remote as well? It's not gonna blow your hair back (100wpc X 5, per their specs), but it'd be OK for this app, I'm sure. Plus I can let you have it for a song... maybe a dance too?

PM me if you wanna talk about it.

    Harry
So, are you willing to put forth a little effort or are you happy sitting in your skeptical poo pile?

This is a no brainer for a simple, great sounding setup.

Ok, I just shot the speaker with my 44 and it tore the whole box in half. Should I have used a 22? Will this be covered under FedEx shipping damage?

I believe a little more discretion should have been used.

Polk better not charge me a restocking fee . . .

But, in all seriousness. I paid $189 for this 42" and I am very happy with its performance. The fiance felt the TV speakers just weren't doing her shows justice. But now, she can now watch her Gossip Girls and Desperate Housewives in the bedroom while I jam out in my man cave.

No doubt, it's a huge improvement over what you had to start with. It's perfect in that respect.

I hae installed both for family members. The 50 blows the 42 out of the water in every respect. Thats not to say the 42 is bad - it isn't at all. Its just the 50 is much better. YMMV

I agree the 42" is surprising for what it is but with Mar's constant praises of the 50" I always wonder and reconsider :frown:

What is the supplemented subwoofer for the fiance's set-up? You know, at that price that could be interesting as my original idea was to modify as a center and have 1 above and 1 below the PJ screen. At that price, the appeal is greater. Just too bad Canadians can not order on from Polk ebay store.

Thanks TECHNOKID...I only bought it to help you avoid it:biggrin: Seriously though, should be fun to play with. I heard a smaller one at Ricardo's about a year ago that was being passed around and it sounded decent.

I'd autograph it but it would probably devalue it, instead of make it collectable. I always give autographs at Polkfest, although Ricardo is the only one to actually accept one.
