I have the RTi8s now and thinking of replacing them with the Monitor 70 series IIs because they're on sale for $398 right now...will they be much of an upgrade or should I keep the RTi's? The M70s are a nice looking speaker but they don't seem to have the build quality of the RTi's...they're taller and deeper with 2 more woofers but they're lighter.

I agree though I don't much care for the 8s. BTW, the newer Rti-A5s (which are the Rti-8 replacements) are actually LIGHTER than the M70s?

In any case...your real UPGRADE would be Rti-A9s (or RTI-12s). Anything else is, at best a lateral move--plus the 8s are better for the old HT.

xcapri has a good question for you. If you want to upgrade; why get rid of the 10s?

Why did you sell your RTi10's?

I needed some extra $$$ more than I needed 2 pair of towers, I do wish I still had them but I like the 8's so I'll probably forget about the 70's. Any opinions on the TSi 500's? They look almost identical to the M70 series IIs..

Just stick with the RTI's. The monitors/Tsi's would be a step backward.

If you like the RTI-8s you should just stick with them as Leroy1 says. (On another note, IMO, the M70s are actually better for music than the newer TSI-500s....[the TSI series redesign seems to be tilted toward maximizing HT performance] the (M70s) are also a bit heavier and have a 2.5 cascade crossover instead of a two-way which seems to be what all the TSIs have; the TSIs share a universal crossover point (2.5Khz)--probably for a more seamless HT surround experience?)

Rtis also sound a bit less harsh up HIGH on music on Pioneer Elites, than, for example, a comparable Onkyo, etc. I think you're good!
