Hey I have a problem with my 2600 . I got it used with a problem with the right front .It pops and is very quiet took it to the repair shop and the first time it cost me 100.00 they said it was a loose conection. Got it home and was happy for a hour and it started doing it again. So back to the shop . Two mounths pass and they call 200.00 for a new sound board ok get it home three days and back to the same . What should i do take it back again or call it a day ?

First read the fine print of how the repair shop guarantees its' repairs. Typically it is parts and labor for xx months.
It depends how reputable the shop is.
make sure it is the Yamaha and not any other component
verify with other good known speakers and gear.
check local BBB for reported issues on the shop.
Also maintain any documentation, advertisement and receipts.
You'll need them if you choose any legal remedies likely small claims
approach the shop in a civil way to explain what has occurred and
that the unit is still malfunctioning after the two repairs. Hopefully they will
be helpful. get everything in writing.. no Verbal.
Here is where it becomes difficult.
Asking for a refund or
Allowing the shop to attempt another repair ?
your choice to pursue. Time Consuming !!!
did you get an estimate prior to any repair ?
So did you spend 100.00 + 200.00 (total 300 ?)
or just the 200.00. -
300.00 total and I did get it in writing but what if they say its something else. than the sound board . I think ill just call them and see what they say.
-
But I dont want to put to much into this yamaha. Or if its worth it or start looking for a new one?
-
it is alot of money for a repair IMO
and does not sit well with me to charge a customer
100.00 and then 200.00 for the same problem.
Red Flags would go up immediately.
remember to check BBB ( better business bureau ) for your area
on that shop.
you can do that online -
I did and no complants their . I know red flags went up . But I was so Happy to hook it up to my new rti-12s that I had my blinders on and was stupid. And said yeh fix it>

i like to check amazon first on pricing
and if I am interested really do my research
Yamaha RX-V2600 - AV receiver - 7.1 channel by Yamaha

Available from these sellers.
2 new from $769.95
2 used from $600.00
1 refurbished from $509.87
I personally would look for a different unit than chase an unknown problem
that taken several months already.
There are guys on Club Polk that upgrade their units
and sell at reasonable prices (see FOR SALE forum)
all depends on what YOU want and how much $$...... -
I dont know what ill do yet but thanks for your input it helps to get someone elses input.
-
Ill let you know what happens

Good luck to you !

If you paid with a credit card, I'd be looking at filing a dispute. If it still has the same issue, then you shouldn't have to pay for a board that was obviously not the issue. Sounds like they are just guessing at this point.
Amazon has newer models, brand new, for not much more than your repairs:

This one's a steal:

That's ridiculous. I agree, you shouldn't have to pay more to have them "fix" the same problem. Perhaps the problem is another component but that was their responsibility to figure that out. I would dispute this and try to get your money back. As was mentioned, take them to small claims court if you have to.Display: Sony 42" LCD

I talked with the shop and their going to look at it again.I said I shoudnt have to pay he said he will talk to me about it. But their goes my yamaha for another month or two . Good thing I have my HK avr235 for backup. Maybe shouldn't try to upgrade o well live and learn.

Don't buy used receivers. I thought I was saving a great deal of money when I bought my last two receivers. One blew up and other's surround channels stopped working.
The one I upgraded from, I kept as a back up and is the one that's still going strong.
That Yamaha 1900 from Newegg is a steal, as William suggested.
I hope it all works out. The 2600 is a great receiver and I can understand why you would want to hang onto it.Display: Sony 42" LCD
