X-Box or PS3?

I want to buy a gaming console for my set-up (see signature). I have done some reading about both of them but still can't decide. Since I don't have any experience with them can anyone tell me the pros and cons?
Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving!

Xbox 360. better gamingengtaz
I love how music can brighten up a bad day. -
360 will give you better games selection. 360 works with any Harmony remote, for PS3 you will have to buy a BT adapter.
I sold my 360 because I wasn't playing many games, and bought PS3. Much better streaming of files from my PC wirelessly, much better decoding of Divx files (95% for PS3 vs. 60% for 360). PS3 is also a BluRay player, but you already have one.Panasonic PT-AE4000U projector for movies

I prefer the 360 for gaming. Get a new one as the older models are not reliable. PS3 has blu-ray, but you already have a bd player."They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety."

Ps3 better bang for buck unit. Also free online gaming, and I love the Bluetooth remote.

If you play online, go 360. Though it costs money for Xbox Live, it is hands down the better service and has a vastly larger player base. The 360 also gives you 7-person party chat, cross-game chat (so you can all be playing different stuff - makes it easy to coordinate matches), a far more manageable invite system, Netflix with party-view so you can watch movies together over Live (good for cheesy horror flicks), ESPN3, etc.
The PS3 is the better system if you're more focused on streaming media. Both the 360 and the PS3 can do 3-D if you plan on going that route, but Sony seems more focused on pushing 3-D titles (though both reduce the visual quality to render 3-D). Outside of that, the majority of titles are released on both systems, so if neither online nor streaming media matter to you, I recommend trying the controllers for both and picking the one that feels more comfortable to you.Equipment list:

Xbox 360 uses the Xenos GPU is far more superior than PS3 that uses the RSX GPU.
Considering overall... the xbox just has a slight edge -
^Everywhere i've read shows the PS3 being a more powerful unit, albeit not exactly having programmers at the moment pushing the limits of what it's capable of.
But hey, i'm sure it's close enough it doesn't REALLY matter.
My vote: choose whichever has the games you want to play.I don't read the newsssspaperssss because dey aaaallllllllll...... have ugly print.

The 360 has the better GPU and both the CPU and GPU can fully access all 512mb of ram in the system dynamically (except about 50mb, which is reserved for system overhead/guide functions). The PS3's Cell processor can perform GPU functions that its RSX GPU can't, which makes that issue kind of a wash. However, the PS3's memory architecture is limited to 256mb to the Cell and 256mb for the GPU, which has been a problem for some developers. Basically, if it's a PS3 exclusive, it will look better than a port from PC/360 because they can optimize for the Cell processor's additional processing units. If a game is 360 exclusive, it can match the better PS3 exclusives in quality because they can dynamically adjust texture load in memory vs. memory required for the software itself. If the game is coming out on both platforms like most games do, they're going to look roughly the same on both systems. If a multiplatform game is also being released on the PC, usually the 360 version will look better than the PS3 version because the 360's architecture is more akin to that of PCs, whereas PS3 is more difficult to program for and port games.
They're really not vastly different, and neither system has been pushed to its limits yet. I still recommend giving both a spin at your local store and seeing which controller and interface feels more comfortable to you.Equipment list:

I have both. Kids play Xbox 360 98% of the time. PS3 gets played when someone is on the Xbox 360.engtaz

This thread Is perfect as my nephews want a new system. They are Tweens and so far they seem to favor the 360. I'll keep reading this till it time to buy one for them.

get both if you can....nevermind. i was gonna suggest a ps3 for blu-ray, but if you already have one then i'd suggest you say screw the ps3 and just get a 360 and shop for an xbox live 12 month gold account for less than $40.
