Xbox and other Media Extenders

Hey guys, I want to make it so my media center PC can be viewed from every TV in the house. As I understand, you can accomplish this with "Media Extenders". I just want to make sure I will have 100% functionality before I go out and buy an xbox or two.
Does anyone here use a Media Extender? If so, does it work as if you had the HTPC in the room? Would you be able to watch different shows at the same time?
