My friend at work siad that it was one of the best movies he has seen all year....I thought he was kidding, but he wasn't. Personally, I have not seen it, but I do like Johnny Depp as an actor. Who knows....

Just saw it today and enjoyed it a lot, and would have enjoyed it a lot more if it weren't for the dolts behind me and my boys, who were laughing at every scene for NO REASON WHATSOEVER. What is it with some of these older people (in this case it was a group of 50-55 year old females) who feel they have to laugh at EVERYTHING?! VERY ANNOYING!

I'll be picking this one up on DVD.

kool... definitely worth a try, number one at the box office this week (46M last weekend)... I also heard that the new Sean Connery's movie is pretty boring...At the meantime, Nemo movie already beats the Matrix by almost 18M. Competition will be tougher when they release them on DVD, bring me the King's DVD please, I can't wait...

Just got back from seeing this. Definitely an excellant movie. Extremely entertaining and hands down the best of the summer lot of movies. Johnny Depp kicked ****! The whole movie was just wicked cool!

This is going to rock on DVD. The battles between the ships should give any sub a workout.
    No excuses!

I used to sail a two-mast square rigger like the ones in this movie (and other pirate movies) to Santa Catalina Island and back almost every weekend for years. It was a blast and ships like those present a sailing experience like no other.

Yet another reason this and Master and Commander are high on my must see list.

Can you imagine that? Considering in the advertisements they never had Disney printed on there, except in small print. They also kept a PG-13 rating, mainly because they wanted to attract a large audience. Disney movies dont sell, I listed a couple good disney movies on here. The fact their disney the guys on this board practically turn their head. Oh well!

    Ron,
POTC II eh? I hope it is as good as the first on, that is a very good movie to live up to.

I have not seen a movie this good in a very long time.

Went and saw it Friday night at Down Town Disney and then again at Fashion Island in Newport Beach, both screenings were nearly sold-out.

What a ride of a movie. The acting by all was excellent, the casting was perfect, story decent, special effect's were very well done, every transition...even the slightest from flesh to bones was perfectly done.

The best part of this movie though, all the stuff from the ride. From sound effects, to characters, the dialog, set design, it was loaded up. I'm almost willing to bet some of those cave scenes were actually shot in the ride. The Snow White reference was classic.

My favorite ride in the park is The Haunted Mansion, if it is anything like this, it will be a must see as well. Just from the trailer, it's also packed with ride stuff.

I agree with Ron. This is the first time I've been in a theater since ATOC and it was well worth it. This was not the best of theaters (we were on vacation at the beach) but it was still an enjoyable experience. In addition to Ron's points, the mix of humor and action was well done, plus this is a movie you can watch with your kids. This will definitely be a purchase on DVD! It looks like the sequel is already gearing up.

I saw the trailers to Haunted Mansion and I wonder if Eddie Murphy will take this over the top and make it TOO much of a comedy. I enjoyed Dep's subtle and tongue-in-cheek humor and I'm not sure that Murphy can pull that off. If it comes close to Pirates of the Caribbean then it should be a good film.
