Choosing Front and Centers to go with M30 surrounds
So I'm incapable of saving money and holding on to it, so I've been grabbing bits as I can when I find good deals. So far, I have a Denon AVR1910, a BIC-F12 sub, and Monitor 30's for rears in a 5.1 setup.
I'm tempted to grab the M70's and a CS2 but my concerns are
1) The size of the CS2. Is there anything smaller that would be suitable?
2) Are the M70's too much for my receiver's amp to be worth it? Should I grab M50's or M60's to save some cash?
(My room is about 16x20ft)

With that sub and a crossover at 80Hz, I would get the Monitor 50s. I am on the fence with this myself and am still debating. M50 or M60? I will have pretty much the same set up as you. Same room size as well.
And welcome to Club Polk!Things are more like they are now than they ever will be! -
Oh, I will be getting a third tower for my "center" channel. Otherwise, the CS1 is a match with the M30s through the M60s.Things are more like they are now than they ever will be!

Thanks for the input. I don't mind spending the extra money, but not if it's not going to help that much. I think I'll split the difference and go for the M60's

If you're interested in double 'duty', i.e., using the fronts for HT and Music. Then the M-70s are your speaker. That's what I run and for that 'reason'. Of course I also have the CS2 sitting on top of my RPTV. You could get away with the smaller CS1 but that's really a compromise if you're running M-70s.
The Denon will be able to power the M-70s or any tower in the M series because they're all pretty efficient. Can the M-70s use more power...yes! But it's not absolutely necessary and then, they only benefit for two channel music performance with this extra power....IMO.
If you just want a good 'budget' HT system with that Denon...then sure, two M-50s, CS1 and M-30s as surrounds will do you in a smallish to small/medium room. Denons sound fine with M-series speakers. I've run mine (in the past) on a Denon AVR 2807. Set your crossover to 80 hz and you're fine!
The important thing is that you make a choice that is 'good' for you and that you can 'afford' in this ECONOMY!
Enjoy

Thanks. That helps. The amount of music listening I'll be able to do in that room almost nil.

I run M60's with a CS2 center and its more than adequate for me currently (but I want to step into the LSi line myself). I agree with cnh, because it very much depends on what the speakers will be used for, ie. Hometheater or 2- channel stereo. In your case its hometheater. I would go for the 70's myself because it offers the most flexibiltiy in your case. Plus who know, one day you may use them elsewhere for 2- channel listening. The cs1 or cs2 would do fine.LIVING ROOM:
