SDA II Tweeter

I got lucky or so I thought and won a bid for a local set of SDA II speakers for 86 bux. There was no IC cable but I had no trouble making one. However, I've run into an issue. As I was listening I started ot notice that vocals were low in the mix and I wasn't hearing some guitar solos well etc. On closer inspection the tweeters in the left cab are not working without the IC cable. If I connect it, I get sound out of the left tweeters but not without it. I suspect the left tweeters are getting signal from the right cabinet through the IC but aren't working on their own. So I'm thinking it could be the crossover... Still even in this state...they sound AMAZING. I have a project on my hands but I will love these speakers when they are up and running!
Any suggestions would be very appreciated! Thanks!:biggrin

Twin tweeters in each speaker box?
One tweeter is producing the stereo signal, one tweeter produces the SDA signal.
The SDA tweeter (outside unit) will be dead unless the cable is connected.
From your description, you have a dead stereo tweeter. Could be the driver, could be the wiring. Might try swapping the stereo driver for the SDA driver and see if that perks the system up a bit. -
Shurkey...Thanks a million....that was it. Here's a follow up question. I've read that the sda effect doesn't work well with the SDA...which is why there is only one on subsequent models. So should I replace the SDA tweeter or just leave it with only the stereo tweeter. And one more question. If I replace the tweeters, does anyone have any recommendations on what to use?
Thanks again! Appreciate the help and really dig these speakers!Upstairs Rig

Disconnect the SDA Tweeters. I have the same model and will tell you it does not need it and sounds a whole lot better without it. They add a ton of twingy artifact to the sound.
If you want to replacement new tweeter it is the RDO-194 from Polk. Let them know you are a member of the club and get discount. Nice!:)
If you want an original tweeter it depends on what yours looks like (Silver Faceplate is SL1000) or (Black Faceplate with Silver Dome SL2000). SL2000 are easier to find and are better albeit only a little than the SL1000. The RDO-194 replacement blows them both away and would be an upgrade I would suggest along with new Caps in the crossover.
