Dirty, Smokey RTA-12B's

Hi everyone--
This forum looks great and has some excellent info. Reason for my first post-- I recently purchased a pair of RTA-12B's. They're in decent shape, but the previous owner was a heavy smoker. Would it be OK to cold rinse the top hats (and later the grilles) in Woolite water to clean and remove odor?? I've done something similar with another model speaker, but the top hats used only plastic frames. I'm a bit concerned about the wooden frames on the Polks swelling or bubbling. Also, one of the covers appears to have been crushed and the front two corners are broken. Is there a good repair method to try with the missing corner frame hardware?? The pieces that were broken off are missing, so some other method of repair is necessary. Thanks in advance for your advice and consideration.
P.S. I also have an original set of SDA-1As I purchased new in 1984. I still enjoy the SDAs a lot.

Welcome to Club Polk.
I am pretty sure there is a set of high hats for sale if needed. Thoe woolite should be fine just don't get the wood soaked. Also I doubt that it would soften the glue on the grills so do a test spot.
BenPlease. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
Thanks

Thanks Ben-- I think I'll give the Woolite a try and not allow the wood to stay wet. I will look around for a replacement top hat too.
