i ran across a deal on a jl audio 12w6. would this make a good ht subwoofer given the right box & amp. or should i look for a ht specific sub. i would buy a dedicated ht amp for it, just curious about taking this route. thanx for any input. also, what kind of box would/should i use, sealed or ported? and do they make a pre-fab ht box that would work with it or would i have to have one measured and built?

Do you know what version it is? The 12w6v2 and better utilize a motor similar to the w7's which is far more linear and would produce the SQ you want for home theater. v1's would not suit you well in this application.

I prefer ported boxes with an extra driver and more power, but ported boxes offer low end rumble wit relative ease. If you wont be listening to much music, ported will work just fine. I think i should be able to find you some box dims for you.
