It's been 10 years, do I need to tweak or replace my speakers?

I've been running a CS400 and RT55's for 10 years now. Love this speakers but am not sure of their life span. Should just take them apart and clean them, or replace any of the parts? They still sound fantastic but I'm wondering if time hasn't hampered their performance a bit.

Any thoughts?

If they still sound fantastic, why are you worried about it? Just curious.
If you can't hear a difference, don't waste your money.

if you are just beginning * although your post count is High...and what I mean is that you have not
modified or built or customized any previous components....
it is alot of fun to start. although if you get hooked there is no turning back !

You mention 'Cleaning" and that I would say is a really good thing.

    Depending on the component ...
start basic and work up to the exotic.

    like for example speakers.
    improving the connectors
replacing the thin internal wiring with larger gauge
    applying damping materials
    and the list goes on

sure there will be alot of controversy, opinions, flames on what you do
but let it be your journey and decision.

Some upgrades will be audible / measurable and some not audible and some imagined.
but it is an adventure that is alot of fun ! IMHO.

If they still sound good to you, they should be fine for 10 more years.

If you want to tweak just for the sake of tweaking, replacing xover caps and resistors with better quality components is always a good idea.

Thanks guys. They still sound fantastic, maybe a good cleaning is in order.

I remember once, with a pair of older bookshelf speakers I took the tweeters apart, pulled the coil out and cleaned it. Lot's off junk came of the coil. Cleaned them with some electronic spray cleaner. Can't really remember if it improved the hi-end though, it was a long time ago.

@ jvc, I have never tweaked, changed xover components or rewired a speaker, but yes, I do have a high post count, been around awhile just never tweaked out a speaker.

Or just open it up to the wind and pray you still have a house to stay in when the urges finally pass . Staying off these forums is a great way to not catch the disease... jk
