While I was moving my speaker I accidentally nicked the wood on the speaker. Can I sand it down and re-stain it? If so why grit should I use?

Thanks.

How big is the "nick"? If it is smaller than 1/4" diameter then I would simply look for a matching brown colored marker to the nick. They make them specifically for repairing nicks in wood stains. You will never really notice it.

Repairing by sanding is a lot of work to get it just right.

The wood covering is a veneer. (Polk learned with the large SDA's that solid wood cracks as it dries out) I would not recommend sanding - wax filler /pencil would be your best bet.

Shoe polish works real good for hiding blemishes.

That is exactly what I did to cover my small nick. I wanted to cry when I noticed it, but after I fixed it I can hardly find it when looking for it, and its virtually invisible to others.
Do you hear that buzzing noise?
