I would not use a splitter for a digital cable. As for using digital coax and analog at the same time, will you be using the computer for volume control?
If you're looking for a nice sounding audio card, check out Asus.
Computer would indeed be volume control in this case. I have looked @ the Asus, but they all look to be about 200ish which is higher than I want to spend. What justifications would there be for going with them over the card I listed?
Also why would you not use a splitter for the coaxial digital feed? I need 2 RCA's to feed the Yamaha (if I go that route) and even if I dont I still need a L/R feed for a dedicated amp.
