There is an SVS PB13-Ultra posted on Houston Craigslist that is located in New Braunfels, TX. The price seems very good, and I am so tempted to make the road trip to get it myself. The reality is that I don't really have the money right now, so I wanted to let my fellow Polkies know about it!

Wow, no one's picked this up yet? C'mon someone needs to go get this before my temptation overrides my common sense. Not to mention the agony that my poor bank account will suffer.

seems to be gone! hope someone here got it.

Personally, I feel a DIY SonoSub with BASH amp would handily dispatch a PB13 with top drivers.

Depends on the driver, the tube and the amp. There are several DIY designs that outperform the Ultra13, but the BASH platform probably won't. I have a friend that was using a 51" sono, 15" Tempest and a Rythmik amp...a great sub, but no Ultra. A TC Sounds LMS5400 with about 4000w will do it in various sizes, so will several other 18s and some 15s with the right amp, box/tube. The BASH 750W in the Ultra and the new Sledge 1000w amps are designed, eq'd and limited for that driver/box, but put a higher XMax driver with them with a similar or larger motor and they won't perform as well as they can with more power. You might know something specific that will, IDK, but in general the better DIY designs I've seen use large box/tube, heavy hi-XMax driver and outboard pro amps.

    Combo rig:

Onkyo NR1007 pre-pro, Carver TFM 45(fronts), Carver TFM 35 (surrounds)
    SDA 1C, CS400i, SDA 2B
    PB13Ultra RO
    BW Silvers
    Oppo BDP-83SE

Ron, I hadn't realized those amps were so specifically tailored.
The pro amp route had escaped me, and really seems a much more sound option.

I helped a friend build the Danley spud a little while back and he used a Bash amp for it because he had one laying around for one reason or another. Anyways I was wondering if you've heard the Danley folded horn subs before. It could have been relative room conditions, but I felt that it was one of the best I'd ever heard. (we made two of them and he used them as the front stage)

    Oooh....

I live in California but I was just there a couple of weeks ago :(

I picked up my Polk SRT near Pasadena TX.

I would've nabbed that if they'd been there a few weeks ago....Oh well...can't be greedy.

Haven't heard any Danley's and even though you built their kit, I wouldn't call them DIY. That said, the folded horn Danleys are output monsters. An online friend replaced 4 F113s with 2 spuds and hasn't looked back. If you've got a dedicated HT with no WAF issues, all of their models are the cat's meow.
