I'm building sealed enclosure for my SR124 and looks like i'm falling a bit behind on 1.34 cu ft mark (1.20 + .014) Not sure exaclty what it'll come out to but here's pics of the enclosure with 1 cu ft of packing peanuts. Some space left but don't think there's .34 there :(

There's really not much i can do to make it bigger (without serously sacrifizing clean look of the enclosure in the trunk) except for some tiny here/and/there cuts and shaves. Polyfill will be added offcourse but before i even continue with this project - anyone know what to expect from this sub in a tad smaller enclosure then recomended 1.20??

box of screws is there just to give you an idea of space left after 1.00 cu ft of peanuts.

You'll be fine. A smaller box will just mean a bigger hump in the response curve. Hell a lot of people actually like this since the hump is usually around 40-50 Hz. This won't be a big problem and as long as youre around .90-1.0 I doubt youd even hear a difference unless you're doing super critical listening..

thanx Mac, very helpfull (as always)!

Since packing peanuts only give you "approximate" measure and eyeballing a box of screws is beyond "approximate" i went out to Home Depot and got a few bags of sand to see exactly how much space i got in there. Results came out to be better then i thought - 35 Liters which converts to 1.23 cu ft YAY!!

I can also add another 3/4'' mdf ring on top of my current one thus making a double baffle, adding some "curved" designs to my flat surface and gaining another 0.04 cu ft which will bring me up to 1.27 cu ft before the sub. On the flip side i will have a tad less cargo space and will have even more issues finding a grill with enought clearance for high excursion sub.

    choices, choices, choices....

1.23 is fine. The difference between 1.23 and 1.27 is virtually impossible to hear. Seal it up, you're done.

You could always mount the sub with the motor structure on the out side to gain a little more volume, that is if space in the vehicle allows and you don't mind the looks of it that way.

Yuck. Never liked that. That's the kinda thing you'd see on Pimp My Ride.

That would defeat entire purpose of doing "stealth" fiberglass anclosure lol. Trying to save space in the trunk, not lose it.
