The black M40s from Newegg arrived today to begin duty as the fronts in our cobbled together bedroom HT system.

Of course, I had to pop in a CD for a little music and thought they sounded just fine. Now listening to Independence Day in 5.1. Pretty happy with these not too small speakers.

In fact, being not too small may be an issue with the wife. I cleared off several family pics from her dresser to place the 40s - maybe more pics than I should have. I did order a pair of Sanus stands (due in later this week), just in case she wins her case for "invisible" sound production ... again.

The speakers appear solodly built, though not perfect. I thought they were to be vinyl covered but in fact are wood.

Thought the price was right from Newegg and their service was exactly as stated.

Now I just need to find a good, first bedroom system movie ...

So anymore news on your first movie? I have a set of TSI-300s ([M-50 like] not currently in use) but were very nice in the bedroom before they were exiled by my wife? TOO BIG....replaced by Rti-4s and a small 100 watt 8" sub?

What AVR are you using in the bedroom. I see you have an Onkyo with NAD amplification in the main HT?

Give them a little break in time. They really open up after 20-30 hours! Yes, they can get a little colored sometimes in the mids but, overall they are a awesome speaker for the price.
Until you get to that $600+ price point, you can't beat them!
Things are more like they are now than they ever will be!

First movie is yet TBD. I have a DVD player setup but have a refurbed Sony BDP360 on the way so hope by this weekend we can hear those 40s breathe a little with something blu.

The AVR is a Sony STR-DE597. It's a 100watt/ 6.1 and should push the Monitors well enough.

I really need to keep this within some kind of budget since the most important button on the bedroom remote is the sleep timer.

Depending on the movie, of course ...

Alright. The bedroom system is done except for some cleaning up of the wiring. She won another round by nixing the CS2 so I used a third Bose array 2x for the center (hidden among some books). The Sanus stands look good and the Monitors sound better each time I hear them. Listening to some E Clapton blues now ... very happy with these speakers.

Anyway, sans the CS2 (and still waiting for the refurbed Sony BDP), I posted the bedroom "system" pics with my showcase photos under Gulfstrings.

Please check it out and know I'm definitely on board with the enthusiasm for the Monitor series speakers.
