Since I don't know the answer thought I would ask here

Are there any Polk speakers that are meant to be positioned very close to the rear wall? Less then 6" close and within 5-6ft of my chair?

I have some older RT7's which have dual front ports placed about 6" from the wall and they sound fine. That's not to say they are 'meant' to be placed close to the wall , if they were rear ported I wouldn't have them that close.

Well it would depend on what size speaker you need,How large is your room.If your after a bookshelf speaker for an average size room you cant go past the RTi25 will handle 100 watts and sound excellent near 2 inches from a wall or in a bookcase. You can pick up a set off Ebay for $100 US tops.Best little speaker ever made by Polk in my opinion.

I like my SDA II's about 7" from my front wall and I really like the sound..

Don't even have appropriate room treatments up yet either.

SDA2's. I have mine about 6-8"from the wall and it seems to be the right spot for them.

CRS's are good this way to I believe?

The SDA's would fit fine but the problem is the left one would be next to an IKEA expedit shelf that is 31" tall and the right will have an expedit to the left of it and a tall bookshelf that is 6 ft tall to the right of it...both expedits and the bookshelf will be with 6" of the SDA's, according to the manual this doesn't sound like a good idea...
