I used the Allman's "Dreams" for the pre-jump part of the vid, and Hendrix's " All Along the Watchtower" for the actual jump.

Man that was fun! Exactly 9 years ago today.

I guess it would depend on why I was jumping out of the plane.

Adrenaline Junkie ?? Maybe without a chute, then we'll talk. I did the whole skydiving thing, practically fell asleep. Hit the ground and wanted to take a nap,it was that relaxing. Anything but getting my adrenaline going. For me anyway, it's more scary jumping off a building into a pile of cardboard boxes, or rolling a car down a hill.

Reread the first post. I never said anything about a chute

Edit: I did a lot of high work like bridge painting so stuff like roller coasters are pretty boring. I could certainly see jumping out of a plane as relaxing.

" Fly like an Eagle " maybe.... really Ben, your only falling for a few seconds but seems like forever. It's soo relaxing,no joke. If your going tandem, have the guy do loops after the chute opens, thats pretty cool. My first time the guy kept motioning for me to pull the chute. I kept waving him off,I enjoyed the free falling that much. He got pissed and reached over to yank the rip cord, damn. I thought we were too high yet,but it's very diceiving. At higher altitudes,it feels like your not even falling, but if you don't pay attention, the ground comes up quick. Have fun bro.

What I am hoping is to find a place that will allow solo jumps ASAP. I want to "fly" flip whatever. Yeah a slow decent is not what I want. I like free falling. Did a look of cliff jumping when I was younger into water. BTW what is terminal velocity with the jumping gear on?

Well, around here anyway, you have to get certified to do solo jumps. That requires lots of jumps and a few classes. At around 200 bucks a jump, the costs add up fast. The other cool thing is gliders. Dead **** quiet, you feel like a bird, rideing the air, lifting off the thermals, also real cool. Free falling is still my fav though, be carefull,it's very addicting. Don't know what you mean by Terminal Velocity, are you talking the movie ?

Terminal velocity is the top speed you can reach when free falling.

    Depends on your position.

    Spread eagle, about 120 mph.

    Head first, maybe 200 mph.

I always thought this would be a great song for a skydiving vid. It starts off kinda mellow as you're going up in the plane / preparing, has a cool crescendo in the middle (1:35 or so) as you're freefalling and then has the calm at the end (2:25 on) as you float down.

    <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/e5sm-LcQhCo?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/e5sm-LcQhCo?fs=1&hl=en_US&quot; type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

Here, in VA, you have to be certified to jump solo. It ends up costing about $1500 to get certified with all the jumps and classes. Good gear, even used, can cost $5000+. But once you're certified and have your own gear, jumps can be dirt cheap... like $10-$20.

I jumped tandom from about 13,000ft, and we had a full one minute free-fall before the chute opened, then about 5 min for the rest of the decent.

some places will let you go solo with no certification if you do a static jump where the chute automatically opens as you exit the plane, but then you don't get much freefall.

Jumping tantum they won't let you hit max velocity. Your spread eagle baby. Besides, you want the free fall to last as long as possible. Head first in a dive is for only the most experienced jumpers.
