Anyone on here have a NAD T763 reciever? If so, can you tell me if the subwoofer outs on the reciever are filtered or unfiltered? The manual doesnt say anything about it. I'm trying to decide if I should have been running my subwoofer cables from the sub outs to the "LFE In" on my LSi25's subwoofers all this time!

The sub outs on NAD AVR's are both the same mono signals. The filtering would be done inside the AVR depending on where you have the XO set. Set the XO at 80 & run the sub cable's from the NAD to the LFE In on the 25's. Yes you should have been using the LFE in from the start. Give it a whirl & play with the XO but I'll bet you that set at 80 works best. Have some fun!! -
Ugh...so confusing. I'm getting conflicting advice on here about whether I should set my speakers to large or small, whether I should be running my subwoofer cables to the "lin in" or the " lfe in" on the 25's...ugh! I sent a pm to Kenneth Swauger in the hopes that he can set me straight. Bottom line is that I was happy with the sound I was getting before I moved, I just cant remember how I had everything set up. Now I think that I'm thinking too much about it!Music and Movie Rig

Here's a great article that might help with the confusion issue. Now just hook them up one way...give a listen...set them up another way...give a listen, etc.,etc. you get the picture. But I'll bet you that setting them to small with an 80Hz XO point in the NAD & using the 25's LFE input will give the best results.

So I assume that if i run my subwoofer cables to the "lfe in" on the 25's then I need to remove the gold jumper plates that are attached to the bidning posts?Music and Movie Rig

That's exactly what I had to on my RT2000Ps. BTW I have a T765 and I have all my speakers set to small as that sounds best to me. Funny thing, when I had my tiny little Rt/Fx's set to large they produced a whopping bass sound almost like a sub. I got scared and set them to small.

So, just to be clear (if anybody wants to respond that is
. I should plug my subwoofer cables into the "lfe in" of the 25's subwoofers, remove the jumper strips, and set the crossover in the reciever to 80Hz. What should I set the crossover on the subwoofers at? Should I set the speakers to large or small and should I turn the subwoofer setting on the reciever to off?? Music and Movie Rig

OK, so i called polk tech support and they told me that yes, I need to set the crossover on my reciever and have the subwoofer cables hooked into the "lfe in" on my subwoofers on the 25's. However, they said I DONT need to remove the jumper strips between the binding posts when I do this. This seems to be in direct contrast to what the manual for the 25's says (in hook up option 3). One thing I forgot to ask is whether or not i should set my speakers to large or small and whether or not the subwoofer on the reciever should be set to "on" or "off". Please help!!!Music and Movie Rig

if others think this is wrong let me know, but when i get home, this is how I plan on setting up my system:
-LSi25's set to large
-subwoofer cables going to "LFE In" on each 25's subwoofer with the jumper strips not removed.
-subwoofer set to "on" on the reciever with a crossover frequency of 80Hz set on the reciever.
Thoughts?Music and Movie Rig

Well, thanks to some help from Kenneth Swauger, I think I've finally got my system dialed in very nicely. I now have my subwoofer cables going into the "LFE In" on the
25's and man what a difference! I cant believe all the wonderful bass I've been missing. Now, I think I'll mess around with the crossover frequency setting on the reciever (have it at 80Hz right now) and see where it sounds the best to me. I just wish getting things like a 5.1 system dialed in wasn't so complicated! I suppose most people would be happy with how the LSi's sound right out of the box (and man they do sound fantastic right from the start) but taking some time to tweak the system has really brought out some fantastic details. I just dont know how Polk has managed to create such fantastic sound at such a reasonable price. A friend of mine has a pair of 10K speakers with many more bells and whistles than I have and I personally think my Polks blow his speakers out of the water (of course, I didnt want to tell him that since he went on and on about how he spent ten thousand dollars on his speakers!). I hope I get to have many more years to enjoy my Polks! Friday night is here and its time to rattle the walls! MFSL copy of Rush's Signals album is in the house!!!!Music and Movie Rig

I should say that I do have one more question regarding my setup which I asked Ken about but havent heard back from him, so I'll ask what others think. I have the subwoofer cables going into the "LFE In" of the 25's but I havent removed the gold jumper plates between the two binding posts. Is it neccessary for me to do this? Will ti hurt the speakers or the subwoofer if I dont? Also, I have my reciever setup with the subwoofer set to "on". Should I have it set to "off" now that I have the subwoofer cables going into the "LFE In" on my 25's? Once I get these questions answered, I think I'll be done messing around with my setup, other than changing around the XO frequency on the reciever. Many thanks for any help you folks can provide in answering these last questions!Music and Movie Rig

Ken recommended that I remove the jumper plates between the binding posts, which I did. The issue I have is that it seems like there's less bass now than there was before with them off. Any reason this might be??Music and Movie Rig

I have been trying to tweak the levels on my system for a while and I just cant seem to get things to sound quite right to me. I can set the gain on my reciever in 3dB increments up to a max of +12. Right now I have the gain set at +6 but it doesnt seem to have enough balls unless I really crank the volume. Would it risk hurting my speakers if I set the gain up to +9dB or am I playing with fire??Music and Movie Rig

Chris I don't know if you have these options on your T763 but I have them on my T765.
In the setup menu you can choose how many feet each of the five speakers are from your sweet spot. Mine vary so I took a tape measure and entered each measurement from each speaker. Also, there's another option where you can have white noise automatically sent through each speaker one at a time. With an SPL meter held head high I pointed the meter at the ceiling and noted the db level of each speaker then adjusted the db level until all were the same. After that I ran the white noise again and tweaked by ear.
The big difference from what you described above from mine is that I can increase or decrease the level 1 db at a time.
NADs are well known for their headroom and conservative power ratings. Unless you have the volume set to ear bleeding levels I don't think you are "playing with fire."
