Damaged speaker

I posted this in the car forum, but trying to see if I can get any more input on if I can fix my speaker.
I have the SR5250 speakers, and when putting on my door panel I pushed in the cone towards the bottom left. It didn't puncture anything, but that area is a lot softer/weaker in that area. Now when I hear songs with a lot of bass it distorts.
I wanted to know if I can fix this with silicone if its a matter of making that area stronger.
I did contact Polk and they can replace it for $80, but I would rather try to fix it if it's possible. Any advice would be appreciated.
