Front three

Hi guys. I have a question for all of you.
I am on the fence about what to do here. I am going to get three identical Monitor series speakers for the front of my HT. Either the 40s, 50s or 60s.
I never listen to anything too loud. The 40s would work fine but, I would need stands. The 50s would be good as well. I know they sound about the same as the 40s but, I would not need stands. The 60s would be kind of the "overkill" solution for me. But, would still be cool.
Which set up here would give me the most bang for the buck?
12X16 room and Denon 2310 BTW.

Thanks all

I use 3 towers and I think it's great! If you can swing it, go for the 60s. Whatever you think is adequate now, you'll want to upgrade later, so go with your "overkill" solution to buy yourself a little time.

Thanks. I think I will go with the Monitor 60s. Having three identical speakers across the front is ideal. And I have the room to do so.

Here is another question. I am also playing with seating positions. I am thinking of having a low seating position. If I do this, I could use Monitor 60s as surrounds as well. Is this a bad idea? Seeing as though there is not much going on back there. I did see a guy with 5 Infinity P362s in his HT. It was impressive to see but, I'm not sure how it sounded.

I had towers for surrounds and had no issues with sound quality, I used my monitor 50's and effects were quite audible

How did you get them above the seating area? The tweeter on the 50s can't be more than 30 inches off the floor.

so does this mean your center speaker will be a tower like the m60? Why would you not a get a real center channel? or am i missing something here?

I personally feel bookshelves are better for a smaller room, because it is easier to adjust their position, making it easier to find the spot where they sound best, and it doesn't clutter/dwarf the room like the towers do. My 2 ch system is in a 12x14 room and I will be replacing the m70's with lsi7 in the future. As much as i like my M70s, they take up too much space in that room.

The best front stage is three identical speakers. Center channels are actually a compromise in shape and style. Most people don't want a full sized speaker under their TV for aesthetic and/or space reasons.

The term "real center channel" is an oxymoron ...because a "real" one would be one identical to the front L/R.

This is why I use a KG4 for my center to my ForteII's (Klipsch). Full size, and as close as I could get to matching. Blows my other "center" speakers out of the water.

I say go for the M60's for the rears too if you have the room. I use RT1000p's for the rear with the powered woofer, trust me there is a lot going on back there if you let the right speaker do the ob.

I suppose if you REALY crank it up there will be more back there. But, nothing I could tell that would justify towers! I have yet to get any of my speakers. I have a old set of Infinitys in another room. SL50s front and SL20s rear.
For the room I am setting up for HT, it will be three Monitor 60s in front. Monitor 30s for heights and the Monitor 40s I already have for the rears. With proper placement, this should be a great system!

Help! I am going to order the speakers tomorrow! I still can't decide! M40s, 50s or 60s up front????? Ug! There will be a sub crossed over at 80 Hz so, I don't need much bass extension.

Did they go and put cheaper tweeters on the Monitor IIs? I see "cloth" and not "silk"

I chickened out and did not order the speakers yet. I have also rethought the purpose of the room. It will be mostly "movies" now rather than a 50/50 mix with music. I don't need it. So, here I am.
