The Musical Envoy and the JD 3000A are 200 watt mono tube amps using a pair each of 211/EL34/12at7 tubes. The new price of these is very tempting. Anyone ever try them?

I had the ME (listed at 150 watts each in China at the time) demoed for me with a pair of Tannoy floorstanders using the Jolida Music Van CDP in their Demo room outside of Shanghai. I was very impressed with the set up and the sound. Warm, clean, tight strong bass, articulate and detailed highs, good mids...and a room filling soundstage. The instrumental attack was also very 'quick'. This might be one of the best systems I've heard!
Take that with a grain of salt though--because a lot of old timers here have heard A LOT more than I. But I'd say give this a shot.

I remember the early Music Envoy monoblocks at CES many years ago before they were even picked up by an American distributor....eventually Jolida. They looked pretty but were in a small display, no speakers, and no one spoke a lick of English. It's funny to see this "new" stuff :biggrin:CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.
