Bi-Amping M70's w/ Sony STR DN1000 or not?

Hey all! First post here. So I've got some M70's w/ a PSW505 + Sony's STR DN1000 (110W / channel 7.1). Should I bi-amp these bad boys or not? I'd hate to give them too much juice and nuke them because I've heard of some issues w/ blowing tweets.

Side note: CSI A6 or A4 for my center? Thanks!

Most of the blown tweeters on the Monitor 70's come from pushing a low power amp too hard. (turning the music up too loud:eek:). The amp then starts clipping off the top and bottom of the signal and you get a square wave and that is what damages the tweeter.

On the Monitor 70's the top set of binding posts go to the tweeter and the bottom set of binding posts power all the large drivers, both mid bass and bass.

Many people get a noticeable improvement in sound quality by replacing the brass jumpers with a better jumper made from speaker wire with spade and/or bananna plugs. It's not really bi-amping as that would require amps with their own separate power supplies instead of the shared power supply in your AVR. In addition, to properly bi-amp requires external crossovers.

It's not a matter of too much power that causes tweeters to cook, it's a matter of too little power and the owner turning the volume up too high causing the amp(s) to go into clipping, read distortion.

It's not bi-amping? I have an option in the back of my receiver where if I'm not using 7.1 I can use those 2 outputs for low's and my first 2 for highs. Then I re-configure it for bi-amping and voila. Well that's what they say at least. I figured I could run more juice and not under power my speakers. FYI I'm pretty new to this sort of stuff. Thanks for your help!

That option is really just a marketing gimmick. Finut explained it very well. A receiver uses one power supply for all 7 channels. Plus alot put out less power when useing all 7 channels than when only useing 2 channels,or even 5. The monitor series is so easy to drive, you don't need to bi-amp them to begin with.
