Just blew the tranny (Balanced tube pre, Grado, tubes, Lynx AES)

Didn't make it home from work. Wife had to come get me; luckily I literally rolled into a gas station nearby. sucks as this car is paid off. Not sure what to do, but I'm letting my preamp go regardless. Tranny needs complete replacement, or I find a beater?

Grado Statement Ref1, new version, .5mv. BRAND NEW. Direct from Grado. Still in the box. $1100 shipped. Can possibly try to get you a 4.5mv version if need be as Grado is that cool.

YS Audio A2-SE balanced tube preamp. Volume control. Lots of i/o. Purchased through Pacific Valve and I will honor the warranty if needed. Incredible sound but I’m downsizing with one source, going DAC direct to amp. Will provide matched quad of Amperex 7062, Chinese 12AT7 quad, RCA bronze plates, and pair of Tung Sol 5687 d-getters. All Tested on AT1000 tester. Will throw in some extras for sure!! Asking $1145 shipped and I have owned it for maybe 3 months?! Box, remote, and docs.

    A rebuilt tranny will run somewhere between 1000 and 3500 installed, depending on the car. I just picked up a 98 taurus for 2k to get me around while I restore my mustang.

    If you're mechanically inclined, or know someone who is, you may be able to get a tranny out of a salvage yard for < 500 and install it yourself.

    Sorry to hear about your luck. I had a tranny go out on me last year, and it does suck.

    This is a killer card. The extra output cable is cool if you have someone bring over another DAC, or want to demo one. I would sell the output cables (not input) for an extra $100 even.

    I just checked the Blue Book value. I have little time on my hands but even if I found used tranny and and someone to put it in, not sure it makes sense given the value of the car.

    It's a Honda Civic 2002. Apparently we could get a refurb for maybe 1500-2000 installed, Honda dealer wants 3500. Probably is, we may actually be moving off the continent in 3 months so may just have a go at one vehicle.
