Some pretty gnarly roads they have on this show and the driving manners/skills by the locals leave something to be desired.

REGARDS SNOW
Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all

Route 6 in CT always makes that list. I used to travel it everyday.Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
Thanks

I've see a few episodes already--Dem der are some screwed up roads and safety standards over there. Damn!! I would have quit while I was ahead like Alex did as well. I was truly glued to my seat watching some of the episodes at times.
They don't need to doctor any of that footage to make it more dramatic either, but I'm sure they do since I've seen evidence of it on the reg. IRT series, so now I look for inconsistencies in each scene and I've found one or two minor ones so far.
On the regular IRT series up in AK, I noticed a bit of doctoring/retouching of the footage to make it look more harrowing or dramatic--for example, in one 'closer to the truck' shot you could see the truck riding on what appeared to be a fairly clear dry road--no snow spray or anything like that-I don't think there was eve any snow n the road, just salty asphalt-but when they show a zoomed out view (prob from a Helo), they tilted the camera a bit to make the angle of the road appear to be steeper. But even more lame was that there was also now this obvious fake snow on the road and a blizzard of a snow spray flowing around the road at tire height along with piss-poor video editing of that effect, esp. around the tires, to make it look like they were driving in treacherous conditions.
I'm not doubting that those roads aren't dangerous or treacherous and all that, and I'm sure the drivers merit their abilities, but its really lame for a show (or its exectives/editors) to alter the video reality on what's supposed to be a reality show. WTH!____________________

I like the show and think I would've quit early on also.
I drove a delivery truck for building materials all over the south east and up in the ashville area...whew. There were some moments my butt was gripping the seat.
A year later after I quit traveling doing that stuff, a driver hit another going around a curve and they both went over the edge. Serious injuries but no fatalities thank God.
I just came back from Tenn. and there's some scary roads in that state also. 1000 ft. drops everywhere.
BUT, nothing like that road from hell on IRT "road challenge" they're on now.:eek:Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them. -
Saw part of one show were they were driving in India, a car comes into his lane and they hit. The driver is scared he is going to get killed by the locals because he is an American. I don't watch this particular show as it does not interest me.
My displeasure with the History Channel is it's no longer history! Truck drivers, loggers and gator hunters would be better placed on say Discovery or another channel, not the History Channel.

They are all owned by the same network. My guess is that they have enough premier programming (lol) on TLC/Discovery that History channels ratings were suffering.
On another note, can you imagine being the crew on those roads that laid the blacktop. It's bad enough with a single load of Budda or food etc...Pioneer SC-37
