The real Jolida website??

I just read Jetmaker747's excellent review of the Jolida JD100 and then stumbled on a website that claims to be the new official Jolida website:

http://jolida.net/

There is a warning on this site about Jolida INC (Jolida.com) in Maryland. They claim that Jolida INC, their former American distributor, stole their designs and produced counterfeits.

If jolida.net is for real, their factory direct prices are outstanding. How about a JD100A for $469 including shipping! This seems too good to be true. If this is for real, it's time to upgrade! Anyone have any info??

That's a link for the Maryland Judiciary case search site.

Looks like Jolida (manufacturer) sued Jolida, Inc (US distributor) for breach of contract regarding the Jolida name.

Case closed in June 2010, so I assume Jolida, Inc lost.

There's a thread about this somewhere around here.

The Maryland decision is likely only one of many around the world where the Jolida brand is trademarked. If Jolida is truly intent on reclaiming their name around the world, litigation in every country is virtually the only solid recourse. I guarantee there is a decision in China that went the opposite direction because their TM laws protect their native companies without considering economic repercussions in the longterm. Usually the decisions have to make it all the way to the Supreme Court of China a.k.a. People's Supreme Court before any common sense is practiced. That means tons of money and time.

I wonder if there is an audio manufacturers trade organization that helps litigate cases such as this. I know clothing manufacturers opt in to a litigation group that the clothing companies pay into like insurance. The group protects their marks overseas when foreign companies (especially in China) claim a mark as their own.

Jolida will be forever tainted by this fiasco and resale values have also taken a dive. Glad I'm divested of them for now.

sounds like a good time to get back into them though if you can get them cheap. 469 for a Jolida 100 is pretty sweet.

Just a side note here. I just perused this site. And this 'is' the site that I toured while in China....The facilities and the individuals you see in the videos are the people who I, myself, met and spoke too. They make a fine product. Enough said.

I have been interested in the new Jolida Tubed DAC and have been e-mailing the "real" Jolida and they have been responding. I have also repeatedly e-mailed the Maryland Jolida and not received a returned e-mail in over 2 weeks. A dealer in California has quoted me a delivered to my house price for the DAC but has had difficulty getting any information for me other than a picture of the DAC.

The new Tubed DAC is supposed to be available for December 1, 2010 but I am skeptical, because no info is available on a unit that is supposed to ship in less than 25 days, But I may be asking for to much.

    Time will tell.

I believe it was the other way around.

Something to think about....the Chinese Jolida doesn't have a service center in the US. If you require service you have to ship the unit to Canada.

Hey Scott have you heard if the DAC is going to have a USB input?
If life had more tubes it would be a lot smoother.

I decided to go for it. I just ordered a Jolida JD-100A (from Jolida.net), a pair of TJ Full Music 12AX7's, and a 18" x 32" sheet of dynamat xtreme. Thanks for all the input. Looking forward to hearing this one!

Didn't Lou, our host at PolkFest, run a JD100 with his Carver Amazings on the second floor? If so, I'd say we all heard this player? And it sounded fine--don't know if Lou had any upgrades or was running with the original tubes in that, though?
