Hello Club Polk,

I'm a newb to higher end stereos and I know that what I'm building isn't top of the line, at this point I'm shooting for a middle tier system.

I've got a Sony STR-DN1000 Receiver
Fischer Towers (not sure model, they're old school but big)
JVC Surrounds (Came with my first all in one Surround sound system)
JVC Center (same as above)
Kenwood Sub(not sure model either)

I'm incrementally upgrading my setup and the weakest link I have right now is the wimpy center channel. I'm constantly turning the volume up for dialog and down for action non stop.

I'm looking at two options now and wanted to know what you guys think as to which center I should go with. I'll be upgrading the 4 rears and next then the towers. I'm not exactly sure which would be the better route, the CS10 or the CSi3. They both seem to have similar specs and are at about the same price point.

Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Jeremy

Thanks for the response. Which fronts would pair well with that center?

RTi8's for your fronts. RTi4's or FXi3's would well as your surrounds.

I'm confused on what to put together to take full advantage of the 7.1 surround capabilities of my receiver. Are you recommending that I purchase two sets of FXi3's?

I was thinking about getting two sets of the RM8's to spread out the sound.

What do you guys think about that? Would I be making a mistake?

With the FXi3, does the dipole setup / bi-directional orientation take the place of two surround speakers with a normal 7.1 setup? If not, would you buy 4 FXi3s?

I'm somewhat confused as to how to set those particular speakers up in the room.

    Thanks,
    Jeremy

FXi3's would be used as a pair, either side surround or rear surround or both if you bought two pair. You would need two pair if you want to do 7.1 with them. You do not have to use dipoles though, you can get away with using bookshelves or floor standing speakers for surround duty too.
