...makes stuff like CES look like child's play. It's Mecca for car nuts. I got to go once. It's not always real easy to get in to. It helps if you have credentials and I managed to get a friend to swindle me an extra pass from his shop's allotment and we went as manufacturer reps. Didn't hang around the booth he had once the entire time. I spent so much time at the show that I went from the hotel to the convention center to the buffet to the hotel and never once set foot in a casino. I didn't get to see everything I wanted to see either.
Anyway, this here picture is a picture of a Dodge...well, it's "RAM" now. This is a shot of a Chrysler...well, more like Fiat...anyway. This is a pickup truck! Apparently Fiat wants to get in on the hot rod truck act as well...again...and late...and a dollar short. Again. So, the have targeted the Ford SVT Raptor and are apparently gunning for it with this truck.
Snazzy lookin' ride. All dirty and stuff. Kinda sex-ay. Apparently though, it's not a production vehicle. It's a kit they are going to be selling. Kinda misses the mark, IMO.
So what did they call it? Well, that's the reason I'm posting this. It's a rather unfortunate name I think. It's called the RAM "Runner". It doesn't conjure up images of agility, prowess and strength like "Raptor" does. Doesn't have any serious business auras like FX4 or Z71 do. It kinda leaves it open for a bunch of off-color jokes. Kinda like Toyota's S-Runner.
Do with it as you may. I found it humorous, thought someone else might too. Here's the link to the story.

That Outdoorsman package though, that looks pretty cool!

IMO, Dodge missed the mark as well. The Raptor (whether you like Ford or not) is an impressive truck for what it is made for. Serious off-roading and a beast of an engine. Sure you can mod a truck with a kit (article says $11,000 for suspension alone!!!!!!!!), upgrades, and aftermarket parts, but Ford hit it big with their production of the raptor. I wonder how much the truck would cost after purchasing the kit if the suspension is $11,000 alone. Seems pretty cost prohibitive. I have a Nissan Titan Off Road edition and after driving a Raptor am certain that it would eat my lunch in every concievable way.
That said, I would love to go to SEMA. Seems like a cool show.Shawn

So they dropped the Dodge name? What's the purpose of that?

Gotta say, that does look pretty sweet. I wonder how much the rest of the 'upgrades' would cost, though. The widened fenders, hood, seats, roll cage, etc. I also wonder how much the engine has been massaged.George Grand wrote: »

I have always dreamed of one day being able to go to SEMA, sigh:frown: I would love to take a Raptor out for a spin in the desert one day, one bada$$ factory truck. Parts they used on the truck were tested in the Baja 1000 (another event I'd like to experience some day) on the Raptor R. I still love my old 79 tho, think they are some of the best looking trucks made to date:biggrin:I love animals, they're delicious!
