First system. Is this a good start ?

I am a newbie building my first surround system, and am planning on using TSi300 towers for the fronts, a PSW111 sub, and the RM95 kit for the center, and the surrounds.
I'll be running this through a Sony STR DH810 7.1 reciever.

Any opinions on this set up ?

You will definitely want to upgrade your center channel. It is arguably the most important part of a HT set-up. I would address that first and upgrade as your budget allows. You will quickly learn that hobby and addiction go hand in hand here.

    WELCOME TO CLUB POLK!!

+1, You should think about the CS20 center if you have the coin (the biggest in that series--since your center carries more than 50 percent of the audio in most surround soundtracks).
The HT speakers are just too small for that much of a load....although they can work as surrounds well enough for a while.

The TSI-300s are pretty efficient so the Sony receiver should be OK for now. But be aware that that does have limited power resources so don't PUSH it.

My concern initially is that the TSi speakers will overwhelm the rest of the system. Is this going to be the case ?

In short, yes because they are towers and offer a much larger frequency range than the smaller satellites. I had an earlier version of the RM series and it lasted less than a week in my system. They are good for what they are - small, satellite speakers that offer OK sound for small spaces.

I think you will be happy with the 300's, but you need to upgrade the center (cs10 or 20 like previously stated). The rears you can live with for awhile, until the upgrade bug hits.
