Is this a good deal?

Found a guy locally that has offered up a set of SDA 2B and a set of Monitor 10 for $350.

Have not seen them, he does say the monitors need two drivers and they come with the Polk stands.

Does this seem like a good deal, can't seem to find what the SDA's usually go for.

If the 2B's are in nice shape with the interconnect cable, and the Monitors in nice shape with the stands and needing nothing beyond the 2 drivers the seller mentioned, you could look at it as $250 for the 2B's and $100 for the Monitors which would both be decent prices. Also, I would guess the $350 is negotiable by $25 to $50.

If I misinterpreted and he is asking $350 for each pair, it is not a good deal.

The $150 on the 2B's is an extremely aggressive price based on what they've gone for over the past year, although I guess people may be in such bad financial shape that yesterday's $250 average may become tomorrow's $150.

I was just pointing out that 150 is a good deal vs an average deal. The 250 you mentioned does seem to be the average. 100 bucks for monitor 10's that need replacement woofers is a bad deal.

My opinion there is that the stands are worth about what it will take to replace the drivers, so you would have working Monitor 10's (sans stands) for $100. Not a horrible thing I think. You are also forgetting my stated opinion that the seller may come down 25-$50

Also, being local has its benefits. My wife and I took what ended up being a $300 road trip to Philly to buy my second set of SDA's because at the time (and even now) they rarely show up around here.

On the 10's, I have bought 5 pairs in the past 5-6 months. I generally pay anywhere from $100 to $150. Got excellent 10A's for $100 during moving sale, and 10B Series II for $150 and they were spotless....no issues at all....drivers perfect. I sold my 27 yr old pair of 10B's with a few cab nicks and so-so grills for $75....drivers had no problems. The 10's are swtill my favorite, and after extensive A-B comparison, kept the Series II 10B's that I paid $150 for. I have bought 10's and a pair of 12's for $150 and then paid $100 in shipping....that is just dumb IMNSHO.

No opinion on SDA 2B. Agon has very little sales data but shows an average of $340, includes a most recent sale in June '09.

Good info. My opinion for ncbuckeye3 is to go for it making the best cash deal he can, replace the drivers, and sell the pair he likes the least unless he has a need for 2 systems.
