Looking for a TV, went to Best Buy's website, and among other things saw they are now selling B&W speakers, poking around on this page

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Bowers+and+Wilkins+-+6-1/2%22+2-Way+Bookshelf+Speakers+(Pair)+-+Black+Ash+Vinyl/1277364.p?id=1218246226126&skuId=1277364

too funny, who writes this stuff

•Flowport dimpled port design
Offers reliable use.
•Vented box system

•88dB sensitivity
For powerful sound.
•8 ohms nominal impedance
Effectively conducts power.

I can't wait to have a kid trying to explain what B&W stands for.

The best thing I think about this is the one day I walked into a place not too far from me. They carried some higher end stuff and B&W was one. When asked about I think it was def tech and if they carried it (as not a lot of places around me do) the sales guy scoffed and stated why would we sell a speaker that a mere best buy would sell right down the road? We don't waste our time with such speakers...

Guess I'll have to go to their super clearance sale of the 24K B&W's they had just sitting around ;)

And BTW...IMO there is nothing LUSH about them...the entry level B&W gear makes my ears hurt.

I saw this a while back...but never bothered to read the text till now. Wow, I better run out a buy a pair of those, immediately....LUSH SOUND....?

I've heard the mid to lower end bookshelves from B&W on a number of rigs and, with, shack, the sound is too edgy to me. Give me a pair of LSI bookshelves any day!

Does anyone know what is up with Best Buy....B&Ws, MartinLogan's, Energy, etc.? What market is that targeting? Are they trying to fill in the space that the demise of Tweeter and a number of others left?

B&W is Bowers and Wilkens...the largest British speaker mfg. and they are alive and well.

You are thinking of B&K which was a small US audio equipment mfg. that has ceased operations (probably bankrupt).
