Parts Express has their 250 Watt class AB subwoofer plate amp on special for $99. Expires 7-09-03, 7:00 PM. These are a pretty good deal even at their regular price of $130. I'd buy one if I had any money left :rolleyes:

    The term good clean power need not apply to sub amps. Power and damping (which isn't stated) are.

    The variable phase, 272 W@4 ohm, and free shipping are the terms that I like.

    I paid $129 for my PE sub amp a few months ago, free shipping. The $99 price used to be the amp with the 6dB bass boost.. this appears to NOT be that one, but the one like mine w/o boost. You can add boost to this amp if you want, by changing out some components, just as you can get rid of the boost on the other amp.

    My first one died after about 2 hours play time. Called PE late on a Saturday afternoon and they shipped me a new one on Monday, before I returned mine. I appreciated that. This one has been fine.

    I'm using it with a single 12" driver, high Xmas, 144L EBS ported alignment in a tube sub, reaching near 15-16Hz in the room (large room... 12' x about 25'. I have an inexpensive receiver rated at 100 watts per channel. Polks all the way around except for the sub.

    I've never needed more power than the amp can provide - in other words, I've never clipped the amp or run out of juice. Someone with 300 watts per, reaching for reference levels, this may not be the amp for you.

    The AutoOn feature does not work well. I confirmed this on the PE forum - other members agree. So, I just leave it on "On" all the time and haven't had or noticed any sort of problem. Perhaps they fixed this on newer amps, but I doubt it.

    For what it is.. an inexpensive yet quality sub amp rated at an honest 250watts, I think you can't go wrong. And PE is a great company in terms of customer service. I was and am satisfied with mine at $129. Thirty bucks less.. bonus!
