Eh, OK, it was Australian Pink Floyd , supposedly one of the better tribute bands out there.
We actually saw them at the Gramercy Theater, but they were supposed to play the Hammerstein Ballroom; never found out why the show was moved?
A shame, too, as they were pretty cramped on that tiny stage, and none of the lighting gear shown on their website was to be found. The smallishness of the venue was really evident throughout the show, as they pretty much overwhelmed the audience, IMO. It also lent itself to a few longer-than-normal breaks between songs, as there simply wasn't enough room on the stage for everything.
Having said that, they really know their material; excellent work between their two guitarists (both played solos with ease), thunderous, articulate bass, and the guy on the 'boards knew his way around too. The percussionist was also great on the sax, and they actually had three ladies on backing vocals (one of whom got a huge ovation for Great Gig). The guitarist and bass player swapped lead vocals quite a bit, and while they won't make you close your eyes and think David Gilmour is up there, their instrumental work pretty much will.
If you haven't seen them, and they're coming to an area near where you live, I would definitely consider them a worthwhile expenditure of your time.

So, are you willing to put forth a little effort or are you happy sitting in your skeptical poo pile?

Well I have to admit... Im jealous!
Glad you got to experience that show. Thats the closet we all will ever get to see Floyd from now on. Since Richard Wright's passing and David Gillmor and Rodger Waters always locking horns constantly, this will be virtually impossible for us to experience now.

I've seen Aussie Floyd 5 times now. Always a great show. If you're lucky enough to see them in a larger venue they have Mr. Screen, all the lasers/light show and the inflatable pigs. Close as you'll get to the real thing.
I passed this year but will surely see them again sometime. -
I know the drummer of the original band. Apparently there is trouble in paradise with them. He told me that they are coming back bigger next year. Some of the members will not be with them, i.e Damion, the guitarist.
Let's hope they get it sorted out because it is one heck of a show. -

Ya, I read that too. I guess there is some major confusion going on as no one is sure when they go to a concert if they are watching Aussie Floyd or the new British Floyd group. If you go to their web site you can see some of this, plus read some of their forums to get a better understanding. Messy.
