I am fixing to buy some monoblock tube amps and I am wondering how much power each would need to have to make them sing ?

Just curious, are monoblocks the best answer for sound quality with your SDA's?

What is the conventional wisdom concerning SDA's and monoblocks with an original (or custom) AI-1 interconnect, or using a great high-power 2-channel amp?

I guess I'm ignoring the possibility that some monoblocks can be strapped, but then doesn't that defeat part of the reason for having discrete monoblocks?

If I had unlimited funds, I'd probably opt for a big Pass, Krell, McIntosh, VTL, Musical Fidelity, etc. stereo amp, but monoblocks sure do look cooler

Around 100 wpc should do very nicely. You do not need 200 wpc of tube power.

Thats what I was thinking. The amps I am buying are 140wpc and I was hoping that would be enough.

    Thanks, F1nut

It depends actually... My set will end up at around $3,500, but I am doing the work myself. I would recommend going with a Rogue Audio Zeus two channel amp rather than monoblocks however...

Very good, sir. Remember, you will need to use the AI-1 cable when running mono blocks.
