hearing with your ears are you? well, not necessarily.

This one reminded me of some of the "Double Blind Test" threads I've read in audio forums (CP is the best of course :smile:).
kinda adds to those a fresh perspective..

    It makes me wonder if we perceive better looking speakers to sound better... even on the some model of speaker, if one set is clean and one is dirty or beat up, it may have an effect....

    If you did perceive the better looking as sounding better, you would not be alone. I do my best to listen to new speakers and audio gear with my eyes shut. Being critical to the sound, imaging, and subtleties of there sound. I try to hear them for what they are and not what I see. But it helps if they look good too..:smile:

    I don't think it works that way. Our brain knows by the way the guys lips are moving that he should be saying "FAAA" even though he is not. A speaker doesn't "physically" speak--so there's not confusion of interpretation involved--at least thats my opinion.

    Man that's just nuts!! What's even crazier is that someone figured out you can say baa while mouthing faa and people will think it's faa and not baa. I need a job like that. :cool:

    Am I the only one that got "Vaa"?

    The mouth looks identicle whether making "faa" or "vaa", so I wonder what it means that my brain picked "V" over "F".:confused:

    I got vaa sometimes too. It kind of wandered back and forth. Funny thing is, I got vaa with my eyes closed sometimes too.

    Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all :D
