Gain setting with MM6501.. 2.7ohm

I have the Polk MM6501 component set being powered by a sundown sax-125.2. Calculating the voltage with the amp power, I should give it 22.3v which I then set using my DMM. Of course this considers that they are 4ohm speakers, which Polk claims them to be even lower. Of course these have to be wired at 4ohm anyway (correct me if I'm wrong), so shouldn't I be able to give it more voltage to make up for that higher ohm I'm running?
sqrt(125rms watts x 4 ohm) = 22.36068 volts
I've also heard of people being able to push a lot more than 125w rms into these sets, is that true? What would you guys suggest, since I have some more power to give it if it can handle it.
