Question about original factory Monitor stands

I have a set of Monitor 10B's that I bought in college back in 1989 with stands. I have always been under the impression they were the factory stands. Over the last few weeks, I have noticed on here in other folk's pics that their factory stands look different. I have found two photos on the web of 10's sitting on stands like mine, but probably a 100 on the other kind of stand.

The other kind of stand is the kind that the guy posted a drawing of on another thread here, that is the one I see almost all the time.

Well, today I bought a set of 10B's from a guy who has had them since the late 80's since they were new and they came with original stands. The stands they came with were the most common kind that I see on here.

I have read that the stands designs changed over the years, I just wanted to post photos of the two kinds I have and see if anyone can confirm that my original pair is Polk or is it maybe something else.

In the photos, the one on the right is my original, the one on the left is the stand I got today, which is the ones I see all the time on here. The funny thing is, the ones I have seem to be a perfect fit for my 10's, the base is the same size as the speaker, while the more common kind seems to be oddly shaped.

Anyway, here are the photos:

Polk offered different stands as they were available. Both the stands in your pics are "correct". MOF, I have some original Polk stands that came with some Model 7s that are much shorter than the ones you have. The later models came with the taller stands that you have.

Thanks Stubby. I really like the ones I have better than the other set, may try to make a set myself to match.

I have seen both as well and always figured the design changed over time. Mark posted a DIY of the stands you got there on the right. I built a few sets myself and did them with the base being the same size as the speaker bottom. The others with the wider base look odd to me.

These are the ones I made. I karma'd the set in the first pic. And yeah....those "spikes" are wood screws! lol

I would check pawn shops, Craigslist, flea markets for a router. I made these out of leftover wood from other projects. Base plates are aromatic cedar, top plates are 3/4" cabinet grade plywood and uprights are cypress on the 1st pic. And 4x4 pine (untreated) in the 2nd pic.

I "think" the original stands are tilted 6 degrees. Mine are 3 degrees.

All the stands Polk offered as an option with the Monitor series, were to be used for the Monitor 5, 7 & 10. They have multiple variations just like Stubby mentioned.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.
