Question on the rings...

If this has been posted somewhere, I didn't see it. I am ready to install the rings and have a few questions.
1) What bit size are you guys using for the holes? 9/32"? Or 1/4" and wobble around until big enough?
2) The 10" passives in my speakers only use 4 screws. Seems enough to keep them flat against the baffle. Anyone gone all the way and drilled 8 holes?
3) Anyone actually installed the tweeter rings if using RDO's? Since they are plastic, you can't tighten them enough to get the benefit of the rings. Right? Am I missing something?
Thanks.....

I haven't got around to installing mine either, but I wondered the same thing about the tweeter mounts also... I guess they don't need to be as tight??

I have 1b's and I used a 9/32 bit. You have to be careful to be square. If you get off alittle you can go bigger like 19/64 if needed. My passive has 8 holes and I used them all. I did not use the tweeter rings. You may also have to adjust depending on if your center brace is accually in the center. Mine was off just alittle so one side fit nicely and the other side was kind of tight. Just take your time. I am far from any kind of expert but I manage to get them in without **** any thing up and once in they work great. Hope this helps.

Thanks Coyote.
None of my bit sets have a 9/32. They go from 1/4 to 5/16. Believe it or not, my local Home Depot does not carry a 9/32 bit. You heard that well. And it's not that they are out of stock. They just don't carry one (they do have a $60 set that has one. No thanks).
So thank you very much Amazon Prime with 1 day shipping!!!_________________________________________________

Just grind 1/32 off the 5/16 diameter bit.
I wouldn't do the wobble thing with the 1/4" bit. One note on the tweeter rings if you are using RDO's.
I posted this before. Just showing you guys in case you didn't see it.
It won't let me repost the pic ????

You welcome. Are you going the RTA15's Ricardo ???

Yes. This is for the 15's. Also changing the xover resistors from Mills to Duelund and Dynamating all the baskets._________________________________________________

On my 4.1TL's, I had previously added 4 more screws, so when Larry came out with his rings it was requested that he make the 10" rings with 8 holes. I think it is worth the effort.3) Anyone actually installed the tweeter rings if using RDO's? Since they are plastic, you can't tighten them enough to get the benefit of the rings. Right? The point of the rings is to couple the drivers to the cabinet. With the tweeters this isn't needed. The point of the tweeter rings is to get rid of issues with the original wood screws stripping out the holes and it allows the bolt heads to better match the cap screws.Political Correctness'.........defined

Can you PM me the results of that Ricardo. I am keeping the 15's as secondary rig. I'm trying to keep up with the budget and not have two rigs break me.
Thanks Ricardo
