Room treatment question

I recently moved into a townhouse and am using the finished basement as an audio room. However, the room is full drywall w/ tile floors. Thus, it is unbelievably reflective. I have been looking into acoustic panels w/ gikacoustics and atsacoustics seemingly the most mentioned sites on this forum. I am curious, as ats does not sell bass traps, just acoustic panels. With my very live room, what would you recommend?

For non dipole speakers, bass traps in corners, acoustic panels behind the speakers and at the first reflection, diffusers on the rear wall. Don't forget an area rug too.

Would this recommendation change with me using SDA SRS 2's? I've looked at GIK, and plan on buying at least 2 tri-traps, 2-4 acoustic panels, and a monster bass trap. Sound good?

Traps will work with any speaker. Some speakers/rooms may need more or less although some people believe you can't bass trap enough.

I have a wide variety of traps in my room and I play both my Martin Logan's and the SRS2 and leave the traps the same for both.

Sounds good, and it will sound good.

I have stacked GIK Tri-Traps in each corner and use three 244 traps on the wall behind my dipole ESL's. Some folks that have been here treated their listening rooms after hearing the difference it makes. GIK can also provide a treatment recommendation for your room.

With the SDA's, is it still good to have a panel behind the speaker. I am just curious, as I have always preferred the sound with them very close to the back wall.

Let me second the motion to get an area rug. You will be amazed how much the slap echo will reduce when you put in a huge area rug over as much of the tile floor as possible.

The nice thing is, you can go to pretty much any store and buy one, bring it home, lay it down, and notice an instant improvement.

Just do it - you'll be happy that you did!
