I pulled this from my 1.3 vs. 1.4 HDMI thread. I've answered that question.

I have a huge headache and my brain is overflowing with specs and comparisons and what's new and what got cut and blah blah blah.

So... what about the Denon AVR-1911, refurbished, from the Denon-authorized reseller DAKmart for $361 to my door, 1-year warranty through Denon.

Compared to the brand new Onkyo HT-RC260 to my door for $320, 2-year warranty??

I keep reading that Onkyo's video up-scaling isn't that great, and some reviews even generally pan Onkyo's amps and "sound".

The Denon has Audyessey MultiEQ and the Onkto has 2EQ.

Don't get me wrong - I've had an Onkyo stereo receiver for 20 years and love it. But this is probably my last big receiver purchase in this lifetime.

Probably, for my use, it doesn't really matter... but Denon has always seemed juuuuust out of reach....

I don't know. Anyone with opinions? I've got the DAKmart guy on the line, he cut the shipping from flat-rate to actual rate, which is a savings of $14. So, refurb Denon AVR-1911, 1-year warranty, to the door for $361, or brand new Onkyo HT-RC-260 to the door for $320?

What's wrong with the Onkyo amps? They're a High Current design probably have as much power as that Denon (with which the TX-SR608 Onkyo competes--the 260 seems to have similar features and power). And the 608 has been reviewed well in several places?

Having said that. As you know. The two sound different. The Denon more laid back and the Onkyo more dynamic and forward, better for HT....maybe not as good for 'music'.

Personally, I'd step up to the Onkyo TX-SR708 for the pre-outs.

I'd definitely say that both are top tier in that 400+ dollar niche!
