Dumb CD/transport question

Actually two somewhat related questions.
1. When I use digital audio out on the CDP and use my pre/pro to convert it, am I simply using the CDP as a transport?
2. When I use the DVD-Audio outputs of the BRP for both BR and standard DVDs (though I like the digital outputs better for standard).....am I wasting the bulk of the pre/pro since the BRP is doing all of the decoding?

1. Yes.
2. Depends on which one does a better job.Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Source: Rotel CD14MkII CD Player - Speakers: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2 -
Thanks. I agree with 2, but I use the DVD-Audio for lossless since I don't have a HTR/processor with HDMI. I do like the processor better for DD and DTS.
Thanks Steveinaz.
