I haven't watched baseball in ages, but I just started going to the gym in late Sept., and the the playoff games were being shown nearly every day. The Giants were a lot of fun to watch in the post-season, first against the Phillies and then the Rangers.

And, by the way, I'm so glad that things worked out for 'Mitch Kramer' from Dazed and Confused. Hopefully Ben Affleck wasn't waiting for him outside of Rangers Park with a paddle in hand...

I hate throwing out terms like "Team of Destiny" out there. But they certainly have had that sort of mojo for the last couple of weeks. I'm glad they won it. Especially when they showed so much class on the field by applauding Bobby Cox after defeating the Braves in the NLDS.

I'm sure Barry Bonds cried himself to sleep last night.
I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore

    Barry who?

I couldn't believe it when they brought him out for a pre game ceremony in one of the first two games. You'd think they'd try and distance themselves from him.

Nice win by the Giants though. The Freak is the real deal beating Derek Lowe, Roy Halladay and Cliff Lee twice. The rest of that staff is pretty awesome as well and Edgar Renteria with his second World Series winning hit, pretty freakin cool.

The Giants played some great baseball. It was a lot of fun watching them win.

I'm with you DSkip. I'm a big Rangers fan as well but the Giants pitching was incredible and their batters took advantage of the few mistakes that Lee made last night. The best team won because they played the best consistently. This just makes me excited for next year to see what the Rangers will do based on how their pitching staff has matured here the second half of the year.

Now if only the Cowboys paid attention to realize that with a little teamwork, humility, desire, clubhouse leadership and trusting your coaches, you can actually be productive. It's not happening this year, but they have some time until training camp rolls around next summer to figure it out.

Hats off to them for sure. What an impressive rotation!!

I'm most impressed with Madison Bumgarner. We went to the same HS (granted he's much younger than me), so I got to go home and see him just DOMINATE at the HS/ Legion ball level. His fastball was just ludicrous then. He didn't even throw a breaking ball back then; supposedly his dad didn't want him to ruin his arm, which appears to have been a smart move.

He had the same calm/ collected demeanor he had back then; which was pretty darn impressive for a rookie pitching in the world series.

For a tiny HS in the hills of NC, that's pretty cool. I think everyone who played sports there is finally happy to see one of our own make it :)
