Recommend me an AVR, please!

I would not worry that much about the 80wpc because anthem tends to me more honest about the specs so if these specs were say on a yamaha the wpc would be like 110 wpc . You may think its more money but in the long run you go through a whole bunch of lower priced avr's and it add up to a mountain of wasted cash.

Anthem has a arc correction thats just for 2 ch and it sorts out your music unlike other room cal systems

Well, it appears I have fixed the problem, FINALLY.

I would've never expected this but I guess this does occur over time.
Turns out that coax audio cable I had running from the DVR to the AVR wasn't secure. It was pulling itself down on account of a few other cables and it's own weight (hefty Audioquest wires..) and was shorting ITSELF out against the female RCA on the receiver end! I would have never expected this since I zipped it all up upon install and haven't moved anything save the speakers around since that time about 9-12 months ago. I proceeded to swap it out with an Audioquest optical and all seems to be well in the world of Andy's Home Theater at the moment.
Sound is a bit "thinner" sounding, but at least I got my system firing on all cylinders. Ran the MCACC again, and I've yet to have an issue in a few days. I'll report back in a week and let you guys know if that solved the issue.

On an aside, I got a quote from a repair place near me and they wanted anywhere from $125-$250 to bench and repair it. Pah! What a crock of rip-off that sounds like. I've repaird Mesa Boogie amps with potentially worse issues for less than that..

Goddang it! So the right channel went out again. This time, it's making a clicking noise from my right channel's tweeter when I mute the TV or sometimes it will happen when a commercial ends. Here's a vid so you can see what I'm talking about. Hopefully this will be the end of this thread already!!


As I'm watching tv, I'm hitting the MUTE button to mute the AVR continuously. This produces this sharp, nagging SNAP* from the right channel. Still no sound from that channel and It's starting to look like time to consider an upgrade REALLY dissapointed in the performance of this receiver. If it can't even last 6 years, what's the point of spending coin on a nice one?!

You did say the cable was pulling out and shorting against another, so how is that the receivers fault ? The damage was already done at that point, changing cables won't solve the issue.

Well, It was actually the female RCA JACK ON the AVR OR the cable not making contact on the male outer edge of the cable or vice versa. either way, I feel like the issue resides inside the amp itself so it seems as if it's time to upgrade.

Would have liked to see this through to the end, but i guess everyone lost interest in the topic. I know you can't teleport here and fix it with a majick wand for me, but I would have at least liked to know what the problem probably was.
However, I'll take a hint, bite the bullet and go buy another AVR. I just really hope that this one lasts longer than 5 years. The lifespan of this one has been ****, so no more Pioneer for me, thank you. (it also sounded too harsh and trebly) Thanks for the upgrade recommendations, I'll start research tonight.

The way I see it is you have 2 options. Get the avr fixed, or buy a newer one. My vote would be time for a newer one. On the used market, 3-400 bucks can go along way. Plus lots more bells and whistles. If your happy with the sound from the pioneer you have, the newer models offer some good steps up in the processing and ice amps for more power in surround mode. Depends on whats important to you is all. When it comes to receivers, the world is your oyster in todays market.
