MIT Shotgun S3 proline cables and impedance switching

I bought 2 pairs of MIT Shotgun S3 proline cables, but they did not come with any manual or packaging. I am wondering with the impedance selctor how you set them? I think I read that you set the switch to match the input going to whatever piece of equipment you are matching. I now realize that there are 2 switches though. The left switch and the right switch. So, my question is how do you set both sets of switches? Do you set both on the same setting (low, mid, high)? Or, should they be set differently based on the output from the source and then the input impedance of the recieving piece of equipment? Why are there 2 switches instead of just one? I could use some help here please. Thanks.

You set both switches to the same setting, which would be the input impedance of the device they are going to. The reason for two switches is the separate lines in XLR IC's.Political Correctness'.........defined

Excellent. Thanks Jesse. I didn't think about there being discrete lines in the XLR cables so two switches. I will listen to them tomorrow and report my findings. I am looking forward to this.

Are these used? I bought some Shotgun S1.3 XLR cables in June and they only have one switch, but the marketing documentation that came with the cables have a picture showing 2 switches. When I called and asked about the difference I was told the picture reflects an old design, not the current design.
Anyway, whether one or two switches, they work great.Lumin X1 file player, Westminster Labs interconnect cable

Yes, they are used cables. They have the black XLR ends instead of the silver ones and 2 switches. I am guessing these are from say 2005 or 2006.TOOLFORLIFEFAN wrote: »Just for the record Greg stole those cables!! lol

Right out from under you Larry!
Thanks Larry.
I must say these cables are extemely good. I listened about 2 1/2 hours today and the first thing I noticed was the increase in the clarity of the music. It's almost like adding the Herbie's tube dampers to the tubes (although not as big of a difference as the tube dampers). There is less sibilance, especially to the vocals. The next thing I noticed was the micro details that I wasn't getting with my other cables (at least not as much). There are music details that are pulled out to the listener more and better than the other cables I was listening with. I will have to do some more listening to get a better sense of the improvements. I am certainly glad I purchased them though.
