I'll admit to it. Been a fan for way too long, but you can't shake your childhood team. I'll have to get to a different PC so I can see the picture but I assume its not a "highlight reel". We will be good next year!

These guys are turning the corner.

They are competitive each week. They have only been losing games by 7 points or less. A few games by 3 points or less.

Big change from the previous years.

It seems like teams play up or down to the level of team they are playing. Maybe they are getting better, or people just aren't taking them as anything more than a bye week that they have scrimmage for a couple of 1/4's.

The Lions have been teasing people for years. Each season its finally coming together, we just need one player, this was the draft etc. etc. I keep coming back just like the video says and I got my a son his own jersey already. Please shoot me now....or wait till after we beat the Redskins! Every Sunday is a new day!

If you keep doing the same thing over and over again and expect a different result, it means what again.....

I'll tell you what, anyone who admits that they are a lions fan is f'n hardcore!! We're talking about a team that has won 3 games in 3 years, hasn't been to the playoffs since Bill Clinton was in office, didn't win a single game in 2008, is 0 and 24 on the road, won their last championship in 1957, and has never been to the Super Bowl. It's the sports equivalent of asking out 1000 chicks, and all of them saying no. If I was born in Michigan, and grew up a Lions fan, I probably wouldn't even watch football anymore. I have no idea how they even stay in business. If they were a burger franchise their sign would read "over a couple dozen served" lol.

I too, admit being a hard core Lions fan for my entire life. I'm optimistic at the beginning of every season only to be dissappointed way to early. The nest season? Same thing. And every thanksgiving, no matter how badly they are doing, I make it a point to watch the entire game. Living in Tennessee, its usually the only game I get to see.

New England comes to town for Thanksgiving this year. It won't be pretty, but the beatdown will come from a Michigan Man so it won't sting as much. The whiole day is set up around the game.

wow, a thread and people talking about minor league football. Didn't think it was conversation worthy. Wait, the Lion's are still a pro team? ARE YOU SURE??? The age old question of "Could the best college team beat the worst NFL team?" is definitely answered yes if that NFL team is the Lions. lol

I watched the Lions a couple of weeks ago.
What struck my most was they were playing as a team.
And who is that journeyman QB? The guy has skills. I think I heard the announcers say he also played for SF for a while. He looked darned good. A couple of bad decisions but good arm, accurate, and ran the offense very well.

As bad as the Lions are, they would still kick the crap out of any college team.

    Uh WTF?

I see something along the lines of this happening:

    Oregon 112
    Detroit 3

And a duck doing a helluva lot of pushups!!

And to back me up the Leo's come through with a win over the Skin's. Two wins in a season is a whole new era.

Have you seen the D-Line??? And what Suh did to Texas last year???? There would be dead ducks all over the field. :)

A couple more wins and the bag can come off!

    - Better coaching has the team believing in what they are doing for a change. They aren't just playing for stats and a trade.

    - That was Shaun Hill. Played for SF last year and played half the season for them. He is down with a broken arm now but the starter, Stafford, is back. He had done a great job. With Millen gone the team has a chance to get better

I grew up in SE Mich. The Lions were always disappointing, but at least they were exciting to watch when Barry was there along with Moore, Perriman, and Morton. Since Fontes left, it has been a steady downhill trot. There was a time when you could always count on them putting in a good Turkey Day performance. That has changed though.

Matt Millen turned a decent team into the laughing stock of the NFL. He is finally gone and they are starting to show signs of life again.

As far as the Lions making/losing money, the owner is William Clay Ford (of Ford Mo Co.). The losses are a nice tax write off for him.

I don't call myself a die hard fan. I moved out of Michigan more than 14 years ago so I don't get to see many of the Lions games anymore. I will watch them when they are on national TV though (lately, that's only on Turkey Day).

In my move to Georgia, I traded one disappointing team for another, the Falcons (who just finally last year managed two winning seasons in a row). They have been up and down and are on the up again. At least they have an owner who is committed to doing what it takes to win.
For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore...
