To split or not to, that is the question?

I have read a lot of opinions on various site so I would like to pose it here. With an A/V that only has one sub out, can I split it and add another sub to fill my large room? I would like more bass than I have and it feels lacking in the far corners of the living room. It's an open room with the rest of the downstairs and measures, guessing cause I'm not at home right now, 15+' x 20+' x 10' height. Am I gonna lose signal or frequency?
Bonus Room:

    thanks disneyjoe,

so no loss in frequency, no loss in signal, no mixmatched responce? I was told since i'm splitting the signal then is would have repercussions, like some of the ones mentioned in the earlier sentence or others my novice mind is unaware of.

what if I combine a larger sub say 500w with a smaller one around 300-400w just to fill the back in with some bass, an I going to notice the difference?

If possible try to stay with the same sub for best results. Splitting the signal has no adverse effect what so ever.

If you use separate electrical lines, you may cause a ground loop.

Ground loop is when you get a hum 60hz noise. The loop is given the input of an amp some current where the hum 60hz is amp to a speaker. There's ways to fix that issue, not too worry. Go Forward.

I have two subs split from 1 output wire now. I've done it in the past to. A sub on each side of the couch does wonders. LOL...I'm lovin it now. 4 subs up front and 2 beside the couch. Yes we vibrate with impacts.
