I bought these 15TL's a while ago, and I'm starting to really enjoy them. Got them on a Sansui G-7500, and an Onkyo DX-c380 right now. I've learned that the 15TL's don't like the LOUDNESS buttun...it really messes them up.

I'm wondering, would it do any good to swap the tweet out of the 7C or 10A to the 15TL ? I find the 15TL tweet to be clear but not annoying, not harsh. I also have L100's and like their clarity too. I just don't know if it's the G7500, 15TL's, or what, but I like the combo. I could A/B them all, but thought I'd ask the experts here first....

I have some Monitor 11's too, but don't want to mix parts up really...maybe I should just leave well enuff alone :)

Get the RDO-198's from Polk, and replace the poly switch or put a ressistor in it's place.

My money say's it will be night and day..

Also get an external amp those speakers love power!!!

I agree on the tweets but there isn't a huge difference between them because the 15TL uses the sl2500 tweeter, but the RD0 is nicer and more laid back.

The amp has to go, that's the issue.

And no you can't swap tweets from other Polks; the 7C's use the sl2000 unless they are series II which use the same tweeter as the 15TL's. The 10A's could use 1 of 3 tweeters. 1)peerless 2)sl1000 3)sl2000 none of them can be swapped into the 15TL's

My 10A's (?) use the Peerless I think (I forget, too many speakers tho I'm thinning the herd) as they are the smiley or sad face depending on installation. My 7c's use the Sl2000 I think the silver coil thingy...

If anything, I'd rather my RTA15TL's become more clear and sharp, but not harsh like some monitors (other brands, L100 and NS-1000 come to mind) have been described.

Thx for the info...not sure I looking for more laid back.

Any tweets to make them a little more clear ?

Oh yea, what is this 'poly switch' thingy ?

No one likes the Sansui ? It's somewhere around 90WPC isn't it ? I've got others to choose from, CR2020 maybe, GFA535, DH220, a G9000 (nds deoxing on vol) ...maybe an M504 :) Gotta love them meters !

If you want clarity rebuild the aging crossovers with premium film caps and Mills non-inductive resistors and then purchase the appropriate silk dome replacement tweeter know as the RD0xxx-1. That's as good as it gets and you will very, very happy. Not laid back, but smooth and detailed.

    Roger that...

I called Polk and they said...WOW...an American company that seems to care about what they're doing and selling...amazing...and a forum discount and free shipping...no Exxon price gouging here...this is almost un-American.

She said they're selling SL3000's (RDO198-1) for them. $48 each. She said they might be a little less clear, I think she said that, a little easier to listen to. But I told her these std tweets were not harsh at all, I'm just looking for more clarity.

How would you rate these 15TL's (after above mods) to JBL L100's ? I like clarity but not harshness. I don't find the L100 to be harsh, yet at least. I have noticed that some recordings sound like crap on the L100's, others, superb. The L100's are not to blame IMHO. I listen to low volume jazz, vocals, instrumentals, some rock, but not a lot of Van Halen anymore at 10 WPC showing on the meters !

Where does one get these caps and resistors ? I checked fleabay, none that I found.
