Speaker Wire

What would you recommend for speaker wire for a pair of fronts? Monitor 70s to receiver. They'll be placed say, no more than 5 feet from the tv stand. Budget 50-70

I got a 100' roll of 14 AWG from MonoPrice.com. Also got banana plugs. Can't remember the price right now but it was not expensive. Quality is good and connecting the banana plugs was pretty simple.
You obviously wouldn't need 100 feet, I used that for all my connections, including my surrounds.

what would be the difference between opened and closed banana clips? I assume bananas are preferred over spades? When does one chose one over the other?

Spade or banana, the choice is yours--no performance difference really. Many prefer banana's just because of the convenience factor. If you get spades, call them and tell them what amp and speakers you have so they put the correct size spades on.

You coulda done better. The Monoprice stuff is cheap...but I wasn't very impressed with it. You can do much better for not much more money in my experience.
