I have liked his side projects but the time has come for a new epic TOOL album! But knowing those guys it might take even longer, but you cannot rush a good thing.

I seem to remember reading that they've been working on a new album since March. At any rate, kick ****! I only recently got into them. As a Rush fan, I can really get into their complex arrangements and as an audiophile, the quality of their albums in terms of sonics is second to none...cant wait!!

    You're comparing Tool...to Rush?:confused::eek:

    Wow.

This is some cool news. Hopefully it takes them a really long time to release it, so they can make sure everything's perfect.

Yeah, how can you compare Tool to Rush??

Tool doesn't have an annoying singer!! :p

No kidding, there is no comparison between Tool and Rush......in Tool's favor.

I'm not sure what I dislike more, Geddy Lee's voice or their consistently nonsensical lyrics.

Great news on a new Tool album coming out!!!

Geez people, what's the big deal? Don't like Rush? Fine, but I fail to see the big deal about drawing comparisons to them and Tool. Both explore odd time signatures in their songs, both have very talented musicians, especially in the rhythm section. I don't see how the comparison is far off. Plus, in the latest Rush documentary, Tools drummer is interviewed and talks directly about how Rush influenced him to become a musician and his playing style. I think the comparison is a fair one.

Take some deep breaths and relax. Just stating my personal opinion of Rush; and I know I'm in the minority here, and the masses love Rush. And you are spot on with the odd time signatures. Tool has a bit more of a "tribal" beat to me though.

The song that makes me think of Rush the most (comically so) is Ween's "The Stallion Part 3". The sound and lyrics absolutely make me cackle.

Tool are great musicians with very original style.
    But...
IMO they have weird, negative, depressing music that I can not relate too.
Many of my friends think they are the greatest band on the planet, I dont see it..

Some of Maynard's lyrics are also nonsensical, though so oddly vague that people attribute greatness to them =P

But I'm stoked for a new Tool album.. wasn't a huge fan of 10,000 days.. give me more Lateralus and Anemia

This is music to my ears! I have been listening to Lateralus and 10,000 days for the last few weeks and just love the time signatures.

As a drummer there aren't many better than either Danny or Neil. I will add Joey just cause someone will.

LOVE Tool and Maynard is awesome and I love A Perfect Circle as well as whatever else he does on the side.

Tool is odd yes in some lyrics, however there can be several different meanings to songs, and thats what I love about it, its not the same to each person. I've been listening to Tool since I was a young kid and loved it all and just can't wait to get something more by them.

Now when they tour again, that is what I really really really want to go and see.

Can't wait. Also happy to hear that APC is touring again. Both excellent bands. Tool is by far my favorite band. I was lucky enough last year to meet Maynard. It was awesome. Venom

Their last album was a disappointment, IMO. As for Puscifer, I'm still waiting for Maynard to say "April Fools!". :D

I'm really looking forward to new material from Tool though.

both? =) Although I enjoy 10,000 days.. it is probably my least favorite Tool album..

and Mer de Noms is still APC at its best and which other APC must be compared!

+1 to less Puscifer and more everything else Tool/APC/Maynard..

    I was referring to APC.

Although, I wasn't a fan of "10,000 Days" at first, but it slowly grew on me.

I actually don't have a least favorite Tool album. I think that they are all excellent for different reasons. I love APC as well. Not such a fan of Puscifer though. The only songs I like that are labeled "puscifer" are from the underworld 1 & 2 soundtracks.
