LSi25s and a PSW1000 sub volume settings

I was hoping for some input. I'm pretty happy with my sound as of right now, but wondered if anyone had any input on potential improvements. I have my LSi towers crossed over where it says "factory setting" and the volume just barely above half. My PSW1000 is crossed over in my receiver at 40 Hz. I have the volume at 4 1/2. The resulting sound is pretty smooth and not boomy at any point. Mind you, on the 1000, I have removed the PowerPort end & put 20 oz of poly fill inside, and that has made it smooth as ever with absolutely zero port noise (that's even with super low frequencies at extremely high volumes). It also sits up on an isolation pad (which I originally got to try to reduce PowerPort noise since it used to fire straight into the carpet). I was debating the xover mod as a potential upgrade for the highs, but for now I just wanted some input on my settings to see.

Polk does not recommend it and may even void warranty for removing power port and sealed up the port. It does reduce a lot of port noise and reduce booming and smooth out the bass. I did it to all my PSW1000 subs and put the volume at level 6 and XO at about 80Hz.

I didn't seal the port. I just took the endcap off. I put polyfill inside the enclosure. I'm the third owner so I'm out of warranty anyway.

Also, is the 1000 your only sub in your setup or do you have others like me? (The LSi towers)

    Yep, I got a pair of LSi25. Actually, two pairs of LSi25 and 4 x PSW1000. I used one PSW1000 for L & R with a pair of LSi25 for music.

The other two PSW1000 are for LFE only and controlled via Velo SMS-1.

I really think you would benefit by getting a seperate amp to drive your 25's. That Yamaha of yours vannot possibly give the 25's enough power to really make them sing. I have a NAD T763 reciever which is rated down to 4 ohms and even that would sometimes go into protection mode when I blasted the volume. Once I got my Rotel, the 25's just soared, especially at high volumes. If your reciever has pre-outs I'd highly recommend getting a 2 channel amp. My 2 cents...
